But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of Egypt?” God answered, “I will be with you; and this shall be your proof that it is I who have sent you: when you bring my people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this very mountain.”
– Exodus 3:11-12
God gives Moses a great big job to lead the people out of Egypt and into a land of milk and honey. Moses does not jump on this opportunity but feels afraid and unqualified to do what God asks him to do. God doesn’t respond by helping Moses with his self-esteem or telling him how great he is. Instead God says, “I will be with you.” Whenever we feel unqualified for what God has given us to do or to tackle our responsibilities, God says, “I am with you. I give you my presence. I give you myself.”
