Simply Receive

December 12, 2009

Jesus said, “No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3-13-17

God so loved the world he gave his only Son. We worship God because he gives to us and we receive. We can’t do anything to earn eternal life, God’s life in us, we only receive and accept his life. One of the reasons most of us loved Christmas morning as children and anticipated coming downstairs to see the gifts was because we knew that it was pure gift. We didn’t have to earn the gifts, we just had to receive them and enjoy them.

God wants to give to us more than we can possibly imagine. We don’t have to strive to have eternal life, a life of richness and meaning, we simply have to receive it. When we allow that truth to sink in, we will worship God fully and richly. Ask God today for the simplicity to receive what he wants to give you.
