The Vision Campaign: An Adventure and a Miracle

May 29, 2017

Do you remember the Indiana Jones movie “Raiders of the Lost Ark?” Harrison Ford always just makes it through whatever challenge is looming. And then it’s on to the next challenge.

Three years ago we launched our Vision Campaign to build a new church. In the time since, the whole campaign has felt like an Indiana Jones adventure. At every stage and each turn, God has given us exactly what we’ve needed to move forward. But, not a whole lot more to ever get comfortable or complacent. As a result this whole project has been an exercise in trust…in God and in our parishioners.

Coming into this spring we had raised $13.5 million in gifts and pledges, and we decided to make a final push toward the overall cost of $15 million. We were fairly sure that we would receive a positive response, allowing us to narrow the gap and lessen the debt we would be taking on. So earlier this month we asked for support one more time.

Now that the dust has settled and the pledge cards have been deciphered (more of a task than you might imagine) we are thrilled and delighted to report, that our parish pledged $1,530,000. This brings the overall pledges to over $15million and means we should be able to complete this project without debt. (They make me say “should”).

Completing this project without debt is something like a miracle and is only possible thanks to the gracious response of our parishioners, the hard work of our staff, and the incredible leadership of our parish leaders.

We currently plan to welcome the Archbishop for the dedication ceremony on September 8th and our first weekend in the space will be September 9 & 10th. On the afternoon of the 10th we’ll be hosting a celebration, with open house and guided tours. Plan now to come and celebrate a miracle!

And then, on to the next challenge.
