A “spiritual campaign” is about getting people moving in the same direction for a greater purpose. It’s about accomplishing something that we could not do on our own, or without intentional direction.
A spiritual campaign is marked by focused attention that leads to growth and momentum. By the end of a spiritual campaign, members of a parish should feel a deeper appreciation for their place in the greater story of the community.
This weekend, our parish is coming together to join in an annual appeal. The Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries supports dozens of different ministries of the Archdiocese of Baltimore: Catholic Charities, Catholic education, youth ministry, college campus ministry, Hispanic ministry, prison ministry, Respect Life, and so many other important programs and services.
Nativity is already heavily invested in the work of helping our city of Baltimore, with outreach, service, and support throughout the year (check it out at churchnativity.com/missions). But there’s more to do, and we can’t do it all on our own. That’s where the Annual Appeal comes in. The ministries supported by the Appeal are critically important and simply beyond the scope of any single parish, even a parish of our size. They can only be provided when we come together as a larger family of faith that is the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
This weekend will be like a mini-spiritual campaign as we focus our attention and prayer on the good and great work made possible by the Appeal.
