Bring Christ

December 24, 2009

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.” Luke 1:41-44

Mary brings Christ to Elizabeth and in response Elizabeth feels her son John leap in her womb for joy. Elizabeth is also blessed, overwhelmed that the mother of God comes to her and gives of herself.
To love all, we must love the people in our family. Mary shows that if we give of ourselves relationally as she did by going to visit Elizabeth, we express a love for them. Like Mary, Christ is to live in our hearts. As we visit with friends and family this Christmas, let’s pray that we bring Christ with us. Let’s give of ourselves with a prayerful attitude and ask Christ to show up through our relational gifts.
