Making Church Matter What's new at Nativity

Conference News

July 2, 2013

“As all my blog regulars already know, and guests and visitors need to know, we’re hosting a conference. It’s on Friday, November 8, here at Nativity and it’s called “Matter 13.”  This is our third such conference, and we are anticipating our biggest ever.

Matter is an event for pastors, parish leaders, staff and volunteer ministers. It’s for really anyone who is interested in the basic project of their local church, which Catholics call their parish. It’s for people in the field who are interested in building, or rebuilding healthy and growing communities of faith. At Matter you’ll be inspired, you’ll be challenged, you’ll change.

Both Tom and I will be speaking at the main sessions, and some of our staff (Chris, Brian, Kristin) will be offering breakout sessions on various aspects of parish life (children and youth ministry, missions, small groups, stewardship, technology, evangelization…the list goes on and on). There will be amazing music and worship and time to meet other leaders. We will also be having some fun too, and you get lunch in the deal.

That’s the conference.

Here’s the news: This year our featured guest speaker will be Patrick Lencioni. If you don’t know who he is, it’s time you learned. Founder and president of The Table Group, a management and consulting firm specializing in organizational health and executive development, Patrick has worked with thousands of Fortune 500 executives across the country.  He is also the New York Times best selling author of nine business books including: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Death by Meeting, and the recently released block buster The Advantage: Why Organizational Health Trumps Everything Else.

Patrick will be offering the keynote at our conference, and he’ll be around throughout the day.  He brings a wealth of insight and experience on how things work and how to get things that aren’t working, back to work – a perfect fit for our “rebuilding” theme. With Patrick on hand we expect to sell out this year: we only have 550 seats and when they’re gone this conference is closed so register early (as in now). Go to matterconference.tv and save your seat today.

Join parish leaders from around the country in a wholly unique and exciting day of discovery.  Information is online for area hotels too, and if you are coming from out of town, why not plan to spend the weekend with us.  If you’re coming into town the night before, we will have registration and information on Thursday evening too. For more information visit us @ matterconference.tv.”
